| Summary: | The article provides the reader with a detailed analysis of the gift made in 975 to Fleury Abbey of both a big crucifix woven with silver and a landed estate of which the income was needed to keep a light in front of it burning. Subsequent mentions of the crucifix are examined and compared with other testimonies of the veneration of images by monks of Fleury. Moreover, the study shows how this very donation can be put back into the context of the history of the crucifix in the Early Middle Ages and of its attestations in the Orléanais. L’article analyse de façon détaillée la donation faite à l’abbaye de Fleury en 975 d’un grand crucifix revêtu d’argent ainsi que d’un bien-fonds pour en assurer le luminaire. Il étudie les mentions ultérieures de ce crucifix en les rapprochant d’autres témoignages sur la vénération des images par les moines de Fleury. Il replace, en outre, la donation dans le contexte de l’histoire du crucifix au haut Moyen Âge et celui de ses attestations dans l’Orléanais. |
