It contains 67 extracts, 64 with the keyword cogitatio, the unifying theme of the florilegium. The first 29 extracts are taken from the Moralia in Iob of Gregory the Great, the others from various Sources : monastic rules (Regula Magistri, Rule of Walbert of Luxeuil), Gennadius, Isidore, Vitae Patrum, Cassian. The prologue, published as early as 1680, is a dedicatory Letter of an abbot Benedictus to an emperor. Some extracts are taken from the Concordia regularum. As dom Estiennot already proposed, the prologue is addressed by Benedict of Aniane to Louis the Pious. Analyse d’un florilège inédit, copié vers 1677-1678 sur un manuscrit aujourd’hui perdu de Caunes, en Languedoc, par dom Claude Estiennot. La transcription du Mauriste reproduit soixante-sept extraits différents, dont soixante- quatre comportent le mot cogitatio, thème unificateur du florilège. Les vingt-neuf premiers ont été extraits des Moralia in Iob de Grégoire le Grand. Les autres proviennent de sources variées : règles monastiques (parfois peu diffusées comme les Règles du Maître ou de Walbert de Luxeuil), Gennade, Isidore, Vies des Pères et Cassien. Le prologue, édité dès 1680, consiste en une lettre de dédicace à un empereur par un abbé Benoît. Le fait que certains extraits soient découpés comme dans la Concordia regularum laisse supposer que ces personnages, comme le pensait déjà Estiennot, sont à identifier avec Benoît d’Aniane et Louis le Pieux. |
