| Summary: | Often described as a fruitless endeavour, the translation of poetry can only really be understood within the realms of hermeneutics. Major formal obstacles such as rhyme and metre as much as the difficulties of style and rhetoric that are innate in this genre have to be confronted when translating poetry. Many of the decisions taken during translation are conditioned by the connotation and denotation contained in the message and can only be successfully overcome by the use of semantic constructs. Finally, an awareness of the textures of symbolism and meaning which configure the metapoetical universe of the poet and his work is essential, if a satisfactory translation is to be created. La traducción del texto poético, que ha sido considerada con frecuencia como una empresa destinada al fracaso, sólo es comprensible en claves hermenéuticas. Para abordar la traducción de un poema es preciso superar, en primer lugar, los obstáculos formales impuestos por la rima y por la medida del verso, así como las dificultades retóricas y estilísticas propias del género. A continuación es necesario abordar, desde las herramientas de la semántica, los elementos connotativos y denotativos del mensaje, que condicionan buena parte de las decisiones. Otro objetivo irrenunciable para lograr un resultado traslativo satisfactorio es, por último, identificar las redes simbólicas de significado que dan forma al universo metapoético del autor a lo largo de toda su obra. |
