| Summary: | The essay endeavors to show the moral relevance of the formation in humanities in the configuration of democratic citizenship. The starting point of this reflection is a complex conception of citizenship which combines the liberal heritage (associated with the idea of the person as a subject of rights) with the legacy of the practical classic philosophy (the notion of political agency) with the purpose to lay the foundation of the civic compromise with the moral universalism and with the solidary action which underlies in the contemporary culture of Human Rights. The author states that the disposition to exercise an active citizenship requires the culture of a sense of injustice as well as the development of an ethics of compassion to lead us to perceive the other as a real member of our community of interests and purposes. The care of the incarnated reflection brought by literature and human sciences allows the practice of empathy and practical deliberation which contributes precisely to combat exclusion and the forms of violence in the interior of constitutional democracies. El ensayo pretende mostrar la relevancia moral de la formación en las humanidades en la configuración de la ciudadanía democrática. El punto de partida de esta reflexión es una concepción compleja de ciudadanía que combina la herencia liberal (asociada con la idea de la persona como sujeto de derechos) con el legado de la filosofía práctica clásica (la noción de «agencia política») con el fin de cimentar el compromiso cívico con el universalismo moral y con la acción solidaria que subyace a la cultura contemporánea de los Derechos Humanos. El autor afirma que la disposición para el ejercicio de una ciudadanía activa requiere el cultivo de un sentido de la injusticia como el desarrollo de una ética de la compasión que nos lleven a percibir al otro como un miembro real de nuestra comunidad de intereses y propósitos. El cuidado de la reflexión encarnada que aportan la literatura y las ciencias humanas permite la práctica de la empatía y la deliberación práctica que contribuye precisamente a combatir la exclusión y las formas de violencia en el seno de las democracias constitucionales. |
