| Summary: | Social protection to the elderly suffered great transformations throughout the twentieth Century. In this paper, we will try to highlight the most significant moments of social protection and help in this matter. We will go from the old Charity to the implantation of the public system of Social Services after the Spanish Constitution of 1978 and its following regulations. We will finish with some reflections on the future of the social protection. We wanted to refer to some old Institutions that settled in Madrid and also to their legal status just because we are in Madrid, the place from this paper will be published. It is also the place where the author has been working, in the field of Social Work, for so many years. La protección social a las personas mayores ha experimentado grandes transformaciones a lo largo del siglo XX. Vamos a hacer un recorrido por los momentos más significativos en materia de ayuda y protección social. Transitaremos desde la Beneficencia hasta la implantación del sistema público de Servicios Sociales tras la Constitución de 1978 y su posterior desarrollo normativo. Finalizaremos con algunas reflexiones sobre el futuro de la protección social. Hemos querido hacer referencia a algunas instituciones madrileñas del pasado, y al marco normativo de nuestra región y nuestro municipio, por ser Madrid el escenario donde verán la luz estas páginas, y lugar del ejercicio profesional de Trabajo Social, muchos años ya, de quien esto escribe. |
