Description
Summary:In 1931 there was a serious theological conflict between Karl Barth and Otto Dibelius over the concept and the function of the church. With regard to this conflict the author gives a short theological description of the function of the church in the system of social action. In compliance with the doctrine of the Reformation, this description is based on the Christian concept of man who exists in relation to God and in relation to the world as God's creation. This frame of reference includes a specific orientation about the task of the church. The organization and the action of the church is a necessary condition for Christian belief. And Christian belief is the root of the ability to accomplish an individual function within a social order according to the concept of man. Thus, the organization of the church and the ministry has a political function only in an indirect manner.
