Description
Summary:Considering historical and political research in Germany after World War II, there appears to be a close relationship between an appreciation of the resistance against National Socialism and one's outlook on political tendencies in our times. This essay analyzes these correlations to explain the debates on the Bundesentschädigungsgesetz and their influence on the present scholarly discussion about what "resistance" means. The consideration of post-war developments has not only complicated our access to the historical phenomenon of resistance but has also contributed to a better and more complete understanding of the political, social and religious complexity of resistance between 1933 and 1945.
