Description
Summary:Using a hermeneutical method this article reviews the complex nature of clinical wisdom in the context of multi-faith evidence based spiritual care and psychotherapy. A literature review revealed seven key descriptors: 1) Clinical wisdom is rooted in virtues and the character of practitioners. 2) Clinical wisdom emerges in relationship. 3) Clinical wisdom requires a fluid balancing of paradoxes. 4) Clinical wisdom is integrative, holistic, and transcendent. 5) Clinical wisdom is practical. 6) Clinical wisdom is situational and involves a sense of right timing. 7) Clinical wisdom is continually cultivated. Questions are raised about how to cultivate clinical wisdom and for future research.
