Het is dan ook beter zich daarop te richten dan op de vorm die de substitutie met het woord kurios in de Septuaginta heeft gekregen. Vander Stichele onderbouwt met taalkundige, filosofische en theologische argumenten haar pleidooi om het tetragrammaton 'onvertaald' te laten. Zo staat het voor de onherleidbaarheid van deze naam. Dit laatste aspect kan nog extra worden versterkt wanneer de Hebreeuwse letters worden gehandhaafd. Met Doude van Troostwijk ziet Vander Stichele daarin een mogelijkheid tot verdergaande bezinning. Zo wordt men immers gedwongen bij het voorlezen steeds een keus te maken. | ||

The principle of the substitution of the tetragrammaton itself is already present in the original text. Therefore, it is better to focus upon that principle, rather than upon the form that it took in the Septuagint with the word kurios . With linguistic, philosophical and theological arguments Vander Stichele supports her argument not to 'translate' the tetragrammaton. In this way it can stand for the irreducibility of this name, which might be reinforced by maintaining the Hebrew characters. With Doude van Troostwijk Vander Stichele sees the possibility of a continuous reflection, since one has to make a choice every time the text is read aloud. | ||
