Description
Summary:On the basis of recent Vatican impulses and with a sharpened view of the development of financial ethics in the European area since the end of the Middle Ages the article wants to pursue the question of how the pursuit of profit can serve the promotion of a globally conceived common good through its orientation on ethical parameters. For this purpose, from the perspective of Catholic financial ethics, it seems central that ethically (and also Christianly) motivated behavior in the financial sector is moved from the shadow of a merely altruistic allocation of funds into the light of a professional investment strategy. The approach of so-called impact investing succeeds in reconciling economic profit and socio-ecological benefits in a special way.
