Description
Summary:The goal of the World Youth Day (WYD) is to convey and cement faith in the youth, and make them capable to carry out their mission in the world. It is organized around three basic pillars (Christ-Church-Mission) and requires a preparation journey and a follow-up, which involves the universal Church and the dioceses. The youth are called, provoked, to follow Christ and to live in sainthood in the Church and in the world. All its activities – liturgical, catechetical, cultural and festive – work around the topic chosen by the Pope, which sets up the framework of the Youth Day. Madrid’s WYD slogan was «planted and built up in Christ, firm in the faith» (Col 2:7), and it answered the youths’ need to live planted in the faith and to achieve the stability and consistency of Christian maturity, within a freedom to love pedagogy.
