| Summary: | In the writings of Ignatius of Antioch we find that bishops occupy a dominant role in the life of the Christian community. Less than forty years before, they certainly had much lesser importance. How did this evolution happen? This article seeks to give an answer, using categories from the Sociology of Knowledge, focusing on the role of the bishops as the social framework which configured the collective memory of Christianity at the end of the First Century. En los escritos de Ignacio de Antioquía vemos que los obispos ocupan un papel dominante en la vida de la comunidad cristiana. Unos cuarenta años antes, su importancia era ciertamente menor. ¿Cómo se produjo esta evolución? Este artículo intenta dar una respuesta, empleando categorías tomadas de la sociología del conocimiento, fijándose en el papel de los obispos como el cuadro social que configuró la memoria colectiva del cristianismo al final del siglo I. |
