Summary:The editorial team of the JME has changed. John Harris, Soren Holm and their team have been highly successful in making the JME a top, thoroughly international medical ethics journal. But now the JME, too, will evolve again. As editors of JME, our collective aim is to shape what is already a highly prestigious and successful interdisciplinary journal into the most academically rigorous and internationally renowned journal for medical ethics in the world. Here is how we plan to do it.A key plank of the new JME will be the introduction of a feature article every second issue. This will be a longer, more in depth article of up to 7000 words. Feature articles must make a significant original contribution to scholarship in medical ethics. They may be more philosophical in nature, though must be in non-technical language and accessible to an intelligent, lay audience. In general, these will be commissioned. However, unsolicited brief proposals for a feature article will be considered by the Editor in Chief (EIC) prior to commission, but higher standards of rejection will apply to this category.Feature articles will be free to access.
