| Summary: | During the year 2011 the Carabinieri Command for the Protection of Cultural Heritage seized an epigraph near Tivoli, probably coming from an ecclesiastical structure. The marble epigraph quoted an indult of Pope Benedict XIV dating back to January 1752 and referred to a chapel in the infirmary of a convent where an altar would have been dedicated. Since the epigraph was completely decontextualized and no further information could be identified that could lead to a provenance, the research focused on some comparisons from various parts of Italy, finally tracing the document, in which there was the text of the epigraph, addressed to the OFMConv. Although it was not possible to establish, for various reasons, the precise church from which the epigraph came, it was returned to the General Curia of the OFMConv at the SS. XII Apostoli, where he was walled up in one of the cloisters, between the end of 2021 and the beginning of 2022. The find was considered of cultural and identity interest for the OFMConv. Nel 2011 i Carabinieri del Comando Tutela Patrimonio Culturale sequestrarono un'epigrafe nei pressi di Tivoli, verosimilmente proveniente da una struttura ecclesiastica. L'iscrizione, su supporto marmoreo, nominava un indulto di papa Benedetto XIV risalente al mese di gennaio 1752 e faceva riferimento a una cappella dell'infcrmeria di un convento dove sarebbe stato dedicato un altare. Essendo l'epigrafe totalmente decontestualizzata e non essendo state individuate ulteriori informazioni che potessero ricondurre a una provenienza, la ricerca si è concentrata su alcuni confronti provenienti da varie parti d'Italia, giungendo finalmente a rintracciare il documento, da cui era tratto il formulario dell'iscrizione, indirizzato all'OFMConv. Nonostante non sia stato possibile stabilire, per svariate ragioni, la chiesa precisa da cui proveniva il bene, tra la fine del 2021 e gli inizi del 2022 si è proceduto con le pratiche di restituzione dello stesso, ritenuto di interesse culturale e identitario, alla Curia Generalizia dell'OFMConv presso i SS. XII Apostoli, dove è stato murato in uno dei chiostri. |
