| Summary: | The discourse on the Holy Spirit in the Latin tradition has differed from other areas of dogmatic theology for historical and theological reasons. Pneumatology was not studied as an autonomous treatise until the last century. It has developed as a fragmented discourse. For this reason it may seem that the theme of the Holy Spirit has been deficient, or partial; in reality it has been elaborated in a liminal way, but is nevertheless present in writings within those areas that have characterized Latin theology. There is an indissoluble link between Christological and pneumatological dimensions. This link matured late in the Latin treatment, principally through the attention paid to Christology. One explanation for this overshadowing of pneumatology might be found in the fact that it can be understood only in relation to the Trinity and within the framework of the salvific economy. Il discorso sullo Spirito Santo nella tradizione latina si è differenziato dalle altre parti della teologia dogmatica per ragioni storiche e teologiche. La pneumatologia non è stata studiata come trattazione autonoma fino al secolo scorso. Essa si è andata a sviluppare come un discorso frammentato. Per tale ragione può sembrare che il tema dello Spirito Santo sia stato deficitario, o parziale, in realtà esso è stato elaborato in modo liminale, ma è comunque presente nella stesura delle parti che hanno caratterizzato la teologia latina. Esiste un nesso indissolubile tra la dimensione cristologica e quella pneumatologi- ca, che è maturato tardivamente nella trattazione latina, nella quale gli argomenti sono stati sviluppati ponendo maggiore attenzione alla cristologia. Una spiegazione dell'adombramento della trattazione pneumatologica potrebbe trovarsi proprio nel fatto che essa non possa essere colta se non in relazione alla Trinitaria e nel quadro dell'economia della salvezza. |
