The scientific-historical approach to this figure faces many memorial and rhetorical barriers throughout the Middle Ages. Therefore, the nature of the relationship between Yehudah ha-nasi’ and the synagogues remains difficult to qualify. Yet an examination of some rabbinic passages suggests a complex relationship. Yehudah ha-nasi’ seems to know the synagogues but he does not take part in them. The renewed knowledge of the historical and archaeological context of Galilee allows for clarification. Yehudah ha-nasi’ ou Juda le Prince est une des figures les plus éminentes du judaïsme rabbinique. Il est nommé dans de nombreux écrits rabbiniques où il endosse le titre de Patriarche et de multiples fonctions. L’approche scientifique historique de cette figure se heurte à de nombreux écrans mémoriels et rhétoriques à travers le Moyen Âge. C’est pourquoi la nature des rapports entre Yehudah ha-nasi’ et les synagogues demeure difficile à qualifier. Pourtant l’examen de quelques passages rabbiniques laissent entrevoir une relation complexe. Yehudah ha-nasi’ semble connaître les synagogues mais il n’y prend pas place. La connaissance renouvelée du contexte historique et archéologique de la Galilée permet d’apporter des précisions. |
