Description
Summary:With the re-emergence of values education in the school curriculum in the last decade, science is viewed as one of the key teaching domains in which students can explore underlying beliefs and values and develop reasoning and critical thinking skills to make informed decisions on socio-scientific issues. This paper considers these issues and highlights the importance of integrating Christian values in science education in the field of biotechnology. An investigation of the use of ethical frameworks in the teaching of bioethics is outlined. The research supports the proposition that the use of such frameworks assists students in the ethical reasoning process in dealing with socio-scientific issues.
