In recent years a number of important cultural works have appeared, including Samuel Kassow’s monograph, Who Will Write Our History, a movie of the same title by Roberta Grossman, and Kassow’s edition of In those Nightmarish Days: The Ghetto Reportage of Peretz Opoczynski and Josef Zelkowicz. To grasp the value of Roskies’s tome, however, one has to understand the Oneg Shabbas group and its role in documenting Jewish life in Warsaw during the Nazi occupation. | ||
