| Summary: | In his multiform work, both narrative and conceptual, lyrical and dialectical, Kierkegaard questions freedom, sometimes in a theoretical mode (as in The Concept of Anxiety), sometimes in a novelistic mode (as in Stages on Life's Way). It is then important to compare and contrast these texts. We will take freedom as a thread of existence, with the theme of choice, exposed and analyzed in Either/Or. It is also the choice that is staged in a singular story, "Guilty?"/"Not Guilty?". If the theoretical texts explore and clarify the concept of freedom, thought in the Augustinian and Lutheran tradition, it is the setting in narrative which gives its full consistency to the free act. This leads to a research on the status of subjectivity, whose ultimate point is explained in the Discourses, eminently in the Works of Love. Dans son œuvre multiforme, à la fois narrative et conceptuelle, lyrique et dialectique, Kierkegaard s'interroge sur la liberté, tantôt sur un mode théorique (ainsi dans Le Concept d'angoisse), tantôt sur un mode romanesque (ainsi dans les Stades sur le chemin de la vie). Il importe alors de mettre en rapport et de confronter ces textes. On prendra la liberté comme fil conducteur de l'existence, avec le thème du choix, exposé et analysé dans Ou bien - Ou bien. C'est aussi le choix qui est mis en scène dans une histoire singulière, " 'Coupable?' - 'non-coupable?'". Si les textes théoriques explorent et éclairent le concept de liberté, pensé dans la tradition augustinienne et luthérienne, c'est la mise en récit qui donne sa pleine consistance à l'acte libre. Cela conduit à une recherche sur le statut de la subjectivité, dont le point ultime est explicité dans les Discours, éminemment dans les Œuvres de l'amour. |
