Description
Summary:This article analyzes four ‘homilies’ assigned to the Venerable Bede and devoted to Simon and Jude (Hom. 88), Barthelemew (Hom 90), and John (Hom. 92), as well as Peter and Paul (Hom. 94). The first two are hagiographical notes extracted from two texts of the Virtutes Apostolorum (Ps.-Abdias), whereas the rest are real homilies composed from multiple sources. However, in contrast to their sources, all of them focus on the apostolic figures rather than religious conflicts.
