Description
Summary:During the years Ioan Petru Culianu spent in Milan, 1973 to 1976, the fruitful encounter with his first real teacher in the field of the History of Religions, Ugo Bianchi, took place. The discovery of new subjects of study and, above all, the demand for rigorous methodological accuracy led the young exile from Romania to a more conscious scientific maturity, as shown by Culianu’s biographers as well as some of his own statements. His first text written in Italy (and in Italian), Nota su La Vergine delle rocce di Leonardo (1975), elaborates on a part of his Romanian doctoral thesis and demonstrates, with all its merits and naivety, the transition ‘from enthusiasm to method’.
