Riepilogo:Under the leadership of Dr. J. W. Porter, an active campaign has been carried on to secure legislation in the state of Kentucky forbidding the teaching of "Darwinism." Mr. William Jennings Bryan lent his aid to the movement. Bills were introduced into the Senate and House making the teaching of evolution illegal. The texts of these bills and an account of the arguments in favor and in opposition are given in this article. The House bill was lost by one vote. The result of the agitation has been a widespread public education on the subject of evolution.
