Summary: | As an example of contextual biblical interpretation, this article offers a reaction to the Joint Message for the Protection of Creation. After some observations on the seven biblical texts used, contributions that feminist and ecofeminist theologies would have made to the document are evaluated. The document has a concern for poor people, without observing the multiple oppressions of gender, class, ethnicity, and others that affect the majority of the mentioned poor people (feminist contributions). Nor does it consider the intersection between these oppressions and the abuse of the planet, both manifestations of the patriarchal binary hierarchy (ecofeminist contributions). |
