Summary:This article discusses the theological importance and historical relevance of the writings, ideas and concepts of John Alexander Mackay (1889-1983), an important ecumenical movement leader, promoter of theological education, and missionary of the twentieth century. Mackay's contributions were vast and valuable: he served as a missionary in several Latin American nations, as president of Princeton Theological Seminary for almost a quarter of a century, and as a board member of several global ecumenical organizations.
