| Summary: | A Politics-Religion Attitude Scale and the Defining Issues Test were administered to students at a midwestern state university to ascertain differences in stage of moral reasoning between those who accept the Christian faith and those who do not, between those who are conservative in their political views and those who are liberal, and between males and females. Significant religious differences were found at the postconventional stages 5 and 6, political differences at the conventional Stage 4 and the postconventional stages 5 and 6, and gender differences at the conventional Stage 3. The implications of these findings for Christians are discussed in terms of the teachings and life of Jesus. Suggestions for further research are given. |
