Although there are now monographs, e.g. Character and Environment: A Virtue-Oriented Approach to Environmental Ethics (2007), and anthologies, e.g. Environmental Virtue Ethics (2005), in this burgeoning field, scant attention has been given to it by Christians. In this article I show the importance of ecological virtue ethics, especially to pedagogy, using examples from my “Ecological Theology and Ethics” course taught during a four-week May Term in which 11 students and 4 instructors canoe, kayak, and backpack in the Adirondacks. |
