| Summary: | A religião retornou às discussões sobre política internacional há quase duas décadas em consequência da ameaça do terrorismo internacional de motivação extremista justificadas com discursos religiosos. As considerações iniciais retomaram a imagem estigmatizada da religião como algo que atrapalha as relações internacionais. Porém, com o aprofundamento das pesquisas se reconheceu que a exclusão imposta a religião na formação do sistema internacional de sociedades e modernas é uma construção teórica ocidental. O presente artigo resgata a retomada da discussão sobre o papel da religião na literatura de Relações Internacionais apontando questões teóricas, desafios epistemológicos e ideológicos além de destacar os temas mais questionadores para pesquisadores que buscam a interdisciplinaridade com a Ciência da Religião. Religion returned to the scene of international policy discussions almost two decades ago as a result of the threat of extremist-motivated international terrorism justified by religious discourses. Initial considerations resumed the stigmatized image of religion as something that hinders interna-tional relations. However, with the deepening of the research it was recognized that the exclusion imposed on religion in the formation of systems of the international and modern societies is a Western theoretical constructions. The present article then rescues the resumption of the discussions on the role of religion in the literature of International Relations, pointing out theoretical issues, epistemological and ideological challenges, also the most questioning themes for researchers who aims at the interdisciplinarity with the study of religion. |
