| Zusammenfassung: | La "cifra della morte" di Teresa (Relación 7 nell'edizione delle opere curata da T. álvarez) è senz’altro il testo più misterioso della Santa Madre, recante una rivelazione fattale da Gesù il 17 novembre 1569 circa l'anno in cui sarebbe do-vuta avvenire la sua morte. Numerose testimonianze, processuali e non, attestano che Teresa in base a questa profezia realmente conoscesse con largo anticipo l'anno in cui sarebbe morta, ma non è affatto chiaro il legame tra il testo cifrato che ella ci ha lasciato e l'anno 1582. Il nostro contributo, dopo aver ripercorso i vari tentativi di spiegazione della "cifra" che sono stati dati sinora dai vari studiosi, nessuno dei quali può ritenersi soddisfacente, propone una nuova ipotesi di soluzione basata su nuove intuizioni inerenti alla composizione del testo, convalidate da un esame grafologico esterno. Saint Teresa's "cifra de la muerte" (Relación 7 in the edition of her works edited by T. Álvarez) is undoubtedly the most mysterious text written by the Holy Mother. It contains a revelation made to her by Jesus on 17 November 1569 about the year of her death. Numerous testimonies, both in and out of the canon-ization processes, attest the fact that Teresa, on the basis of this prophecy, really knew in advance the year in which she would die. The relationship between the ciphered text she left us and the year 1582 remains however unclear. Our essay, after reviewing the various attempts by various scholars to explain the "cifra" - none of which can be considered satisfactory - proposes a new hypothesis for under-standing the text, based on new intuitions regarding its composition and validated by an external graphological examination. |
