| Summary: | Entre las novicias que estuvieron al cargo de santa Teresa del Niño Jesús en el monasterio de Lisieux, destaca María de la Trinidad (1874-1944). De la importancia de su relación con la Santa dan fe las cartas y poemas que Teresa le dirigió, los abundantes testimonios recogidos por María en diversas etapas de su vida y sus declaraciones en los Procesos Ordinario y Apostólico. Joven alegre y de temperamento muy vivaz, de natural curioso y espontáneo, ingresa en el Carmelo de Lisieux en 1894, después de un período en el monasterio parisino de las des-calzas de la calle Mesina. Teresa la recibe con gran alegría y, poco a poco, nace entre ellas una fuerte amistad, la única que tuvo santa Teresa de Lisieux y la relación más fuerte fuera de las establecidas en su círculo familiar, tan estrecho. Al tiempo que la maestra la conduce con dulzura y adaptándose a su carácter infantil y a su falta de buenas maneras, corrigiéndola con sagacidad, María le acompaña en el descu-brimiento del amor fraterno vivido con simplicidad y alegría, con naturalidad. La entrega humilde y sencilla de la novicia al amor de Jesús y su deseo de amarle tal y como es ella, sin ceremonias ni artificios que le son extraños, cautiva el corazón de Teresa, ayudándole a comprender qué es la caridad y como se debe vivir con espíritu humano y evangélico. Among the novices guided by Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus, in the monastery of Lisieux, Mary of the Trinity (1874-1944) stands out, in particular. The importance of her relationship with the Saint is apparent in the letters and poems that Theresa addressed to her, in the abundant testimonies gathered by Mary throughout various stages of her life, and by her statements in the Ordinary and Apostolic Processes toward canonization. A cheerful young woman of lively temperament, of a curious and spontaneous nature, Mary entered the Carmel of Lisieux in 1894, after a period in the Parisian monastery of the discalced carmelites of Messina Street. Teresa received her with great joy and, little by little, a strong friendship was born between them: the only one, in fact, in Saint Theresa's life, and the strongest relationship outside those established in her close family circle. While Theresa leads Mary with mildness, adapting to her childish character and lack of good manners, correcting her with sagacity, Mary accompanies Theresa in the discovery of fraternal love, lived with simplicity and joy, with naturalness. The humble and simple dedication of the novice to the love of Jesus and her desire to love him as she is, without ceremony or artifice foreign to her nature, captures Theresa's heart, helping her to understand what charity is and how to live with a human and evangelical spirit. |
