Description
Summary:Everything we know about St. Joseph comes from the Gospels. This study primarily seeks to expound on Joseph's role and the mystery of his silence, especially in the context of the Infancy Narratives of Matthew and Luke. In the mystery of the primordial silence, the Trinitarian God is present from eternity, rep-resented by the creative and dynamic Spirit, and in the fullness of time is revealed in the divine logos in an absolute silence. In light of this profound mystery, this study underscores the significance of the mysterious silence of Joseph and its revelatory character in the divine plan of salvation. In obedience to the divine command the only word that Joseph ever pronounced is the most holy of name, "Jesus", and that too in absolute silence. Joseph, whose gaze was constantly fixed on God, not only contemplated the divine mysteries, but faithfully lived them. Therefore, St. Joseph is a true model of Teresian spirituality, of contemplation in action.
