| Summary: | The modern UFO phenomenon has been around since 1947 and was invigorated in 2021 with a Pentagon report on military encounters with things unexplained. Many times Christians simply dismiss such elements of the paranormal, or sweep it away as demonic. This article suggests another way forward by way of an imaginative apologetic. This includes understanding the significance of myths and archetypes in a Western world seeking re-enchantment after secularism, that UFOs and the extraterrestrial have often taken on sacred connotations, and the importance of mythic apologetics in addition to rational approaches. The article concludes by suggesting that a mythic apologetic related to UFOs holds great promise for engaging contemporary culture. |
