Description
Summary:Although William Fleetwood is best remembered as a lawyer and parliamentarian, he should be counted as one of the key antiquarians of the time because of his concern for documentary analysis, his efforts to support the Protestant cause with the aid of Archbishop Parker, and the private circulation of many of his manuscripts dealing with antiquarian studies. Counted in his circle were the historians Stow, Tate, Cotton, Holinshed, Lambarde, and Hooker.
