Summary:By their very nature, clandestine groups did not leave documentary evidence for future historians. Nevertheless, by careful collection, comparison, and analysis of certain kinds of evidence, much can be discovered about these groups. Although the focus of this article is the methods used to analyze information about Provencal Waldensians, it is hoped that the same approach can be used, with necessary adaptation, to study other minorities and clandestine groups, whether religious or secular.
