Description
Summary:During the Modern Age, the Spanish clergy, like the rest of the population, had some hobbies such as game and theater, which Canonical Law prohibited them from, as well as hunting, bullfighs and other similar. Following the directives of the Council of Trent, diocesan synods, canonical laws, the mandates of the pastoral visit and ascetical treatises sought to shape a new priestly image: the pastor permanently dedicated to the care of his faithful. However, the clergy cultivated some hobbies in their free time, giving themselves to an honest recreation, according to their dignity.
