Summary: | Religious educational theory assumes that individuals and groups in multicultural societies need to face the double task of supporting the development of personal, cultural and religious identity as weil as the development of the communicative competence, which enables them to cope with the problems of multicultural situations. Religious institutions and communities do not necessarily support, but may also impede this double task in various ways. In order to cope with the double task of developing personal identity as weil as seif competence and social competence in multicultural situations, local people and migrants need mixed social spaces as well as spaces to share experiences with people of the same kind of background. |
