Description
Summary:From the beginning of his pontificate, Pope Francis has put great emphasis, in both word and action, on human fraternity. His visits to Lampedusa in July 2013, and to Lesbos in April 2016, were just two of the most striking examples. Fraternity and solidarity are themes that recur in his writings, from "Evangelii Gaudium" onwards. In 2020, his engagement with these themes was expressed in an encyclical explicitly devoted to them, "Fratelli Tutti", promulgated at the tomb of Francis of Assisi on 3 October. In December 2020, "Let Us Dream" was published, a book-length reflection by the Pope, developed from questions put to him by his British biographer, Austen Ivereigh. "Let Us Dream" develops a number of key concerns of "Fratelli Tutti" in illuminating ways.
