Craft and Function in Samaritan Hebrew Manuscript Decoration
This article argues that decorative elements in Samaritan Pentateuchal MSS mark important passages, punctuate text, provide occasions for colophons and reverent exclamations, and help protect the integrity of the text. Margins, geometric designs, symmetry and colometry, and acrostics are discussed.
