Until now there has been no close study of the prophecy, perhaps because of the apparent lack of early evidence relating to the ‘frater’ and his work. Some recent discoveries, however, cast light on the origins and significance of what we consider one of the most original and interesting prophetic texts of the later Middle Ages.
