Summary: | This paper focuses on a little-known Late Period/Ptolemaic necropolis located at Tell el-Moqdam, which was previously thought to have been excavated by Auguste Mariette in 1860. It takes into consideration its sacred location, form and the probable circumstances of its discovery, which are supported by new information obtained from hitherto unpublished documents. The research published in this paper will also shed some light on the sacred landscape of this poorlyknown archaeological site. |
