Description
Summary:Willi Marxsen’s soteriological-theological explication of New Testament Christology found only little understanding during his lifetime. Marxsen’s exaltation of the theological quality of the narrative synoptic gospels received only limited resonance in an epoch which focused on the conceptual development of the Christian proclamation. The appreciation of the narrative development of Christology, especially by Mark, led Marxsen to an independent formulation of the Kerygma conceptualized by Bultmann. In Mark's presentation of Jesus as the bearer of the divine rule, according to Marxsen, a soteriological Christology of narrative form, which corresponds to personal Christology, is expressed.
