L’auteur tente une approche à partir des personnes et non des institutions dans les quatre départements (Allier, Cantal, Haute-Loire, Puy-de-Dôme) et autour des quatre lieux de culte autorisés (Maringues, Job, Parentignat, La Gazelle). Le fichier de quelque 1 500 personnes révèle une communauté peu nombreuse, dispersée, indigente, fortement rurale. La persécution, avant l’édit de Nantes (1598) et après sa révocation (1685), a entraîné à la fois une notable érosion, une forte émigration mais aussi une tenace résistance sur place. The Auvergne is known as a Roman Catholic province. However, Lutheran ideas made their way into this area as early as the 1530s, and Protestantism could still found there on the eve of the Revolution. The approach of this article is based on the people themselves, and not on the institutions in the four departments (Allier, Cantal, Haute-Loire, and Puy-de-Dôme) and the four places where the worship was author-ized (Maringues, Job, Parentignat, and La Gazelle). The file, which numbers about 1,500 people, shows a community that is small, destitute, and highly rural. The per-secutions, before the Edict of Nantes (1598) and after the Revocation (1685), were accompanied by a significant erosion in numbers and a high rate of emigration, but also a firm local resistance. Die Auvergne ist als eine den reformatorischen Gedanken wenig zugewandte katholische Hochburg bekannt. Es bleibt aber festzuhalten, dass lutherisches Gedankengut dort ab den 1530er Jahren Fuß fasste und bis zum Vorabend der Revo-lution der Protestantismus dort zu finden ist. Der Verfasser nähert sich dem Thema über Personen und nicht über Institutionen in den vier Departements (Allier, Cantal, Haute-Loire, Puy-de-Dôme), sowie über die vier genehmigten Gottesdienstorte (Maringues, Job, Parentignat, La Gazelle). Die Kartei von ungefähr 1500 Personen legt offen, wie klein und zerstreut die Gemeinde war, wie stark sie ländlich und von geringer Wirtschaftskraft geprägt war. Die Verfolgungen vor dem Toleranzedikt von Nantes (1598) und nach dessen Aufhebung (1685) haben vor Ort spürbare Ausdünnung, eine starke Auswanderung, aber auch beharrlichen Widerstand zur Folge gehabt. |
