| Summary: | La Société de l’Histoire du Protestantisme Français a entrepris d’importants travaux de rénovation de sa bibliothèque, les conditions sanitaires et environnementales du sous-sol où étaient conservées des périodiques et des fonds d’archives n’étant plus aux normes du XXIe siècle. Des études préparatoires aux travaux ont été menées de 2016 à 2018, ainsi qu’un important travail de tri, de reconditionnement et de transferts des collections. Les travaux de rénovation du sous-sol et de la salle de lecture se sont déroulés d’octobre 2018 à juin 2019. La bibliothèque a pu rouvrir ses portes au public en octobre 2019, une fois la réimplantation des collections achevée et dans un sous-sol entièrement réaménagé. Architectes, bibliothécaires, membres du Comité et lecteurs témoignent de leur fascination pour cette bibliothèque et de leur engagement au service de ce projet. Autant de regards croisés, de dialogues qui donnent à comprendre la formidable aventure de ce projet de rénovation, à l’image d’un autre projet tout aussi aventureux : celui de transformer entre 1885 et 1886 un bâtiment au fond de la cour du 54 rue des Saints-Pères en une Bibliothèque du Protestantisme Français, laquelle peut maintenant envisager sereinement son avenir. The Société de l’Histoire du Protestantisme Français recently undertook a major renovation of its library, as the sanitary and environmental conditions of the basement level housing the periodicals and archival collections no longer met twenty-first-century standards. Preparatory studies were first undertaken from 2016 to 2018, together with the massive task of sorting, restoring, and moving collections. The renovation of the basement and the reading room was completed between October 2018 and June 2019. After the collections were restored to the revamped basement area, the library opened its doors to the public again in October 2019. Architects, librarians, Comité members, and library patrons all showed their fascination for the library, and willingly engaged themselves in service of the project. The same spirit is evident in the many deliberations and discussions involved, highlighting the enormity of the undertaking which rivals another, equally massive project – namely, the 1885-1886 transformation of a building on the courtyard of 54 rue des Saints-Pères into a library for the study of French Protestantism, which can now calmly await its future. Die Gesellschaft der Geschichte des französischen Protestantismus (SHPF) hat große Renovierungsarbeiten im Bibliotheksgebäude durchgeführt, da die aktuellen Umwelt- und Gesundheitsauflagen im Untergeschoss, wo Zeitschriften und Archivalien aufbewahrt wurden nicht mehr erfüllt wurden. Vorbereitende Untersuchungen wurde von 2016 – 2018 durchgeführt, zudem wurde die Sammlungen neu sortiert und aufbereitet, zum Teil neu eingelagert. Die eigentlichen Renovierungsarbeiten im Untergeschoss und im Lesesaal fanden von Oktober 2018 bis Juni 2019 statt. Die Bibliothek konnte im Oktober 2019 ihre Pforten wieder für die Öffentlichkeit öffnen, nachdem die Sammlungen wieder vollständig zugänglich waren und die Renovierung des Untergeschoss abgeschlossen war. Architekten, Bibliothekare, Vorstandsmitglieder und Leserinnen und Leser bringen zum Ausdruck, wie faszinierend diese Bibliothek für sie ist und wie beeindruckend der Einsatz für das Renovierungsprojekt ist. In den unterschiedlichen Blickweisen und vielerlei Dialogen tritt die nun bewältigte enorme Herausforderung zu tage, die sich mit dem ebenso abenteuerlichen Projekt messen kann, das von 1885-1886 darin bestanden hat, aus dem Hinterhof der Hauses in der Rue des Saints-Pères mit der Nummer 54 eine Bibliothek des französischen Protestantismus zu gestalten, die nun voller Gelassenheit in die Zukunft blicken kann. |
