Description
Summary:Understanding of a recently published bilingual inscription in Palmyrene Aramaic and Greek may be improved by recognizing two elements in the text. At one point in the Aramaic text, the word dyṭgmʾ, "decree," occurs; and, at another point, an alternate division and reading of the Semitic text yields an ordinary relative clause. Both suggested readings eliminate anomalies in the Aramaic, and may claim the support of the Greek text.
