Summary: | A significant group of cylinder seals and cylinder seal impressions has been found in excavations of the Early Bronze Age sites at Bâb edh-Dhrâʿ and Numeira. These seals and impressions add to the known collection from Palestine and Transjordan, and are the first examples found in southern Transjordan. A study of them provides information concerning relations between Syria, Mesopotamia, Egypt, and perhaps even the Aegean during the third millennium B. C. They also provide information on what we may suppose is the indigenous glyptic art. The three seals and some of the most interesting seal impressions are presented. |
