X-ray fluorescence analysis of these wares showed them to be made primarily of limestone, with a little quartz, rather than of plaster. The samples from ʿAin Gh̊azāl are discussed in comparison with objects from the surrounding area, in terms of composition, manufacturing technique, and decoration.
