Se examina la crisis en las relaciones mutuas, si la hubo y porqué, qué extensión tuvo de una parte y de otra y la admiración, simpatía e interés mostrada por los jesuitas hacia santa Teresa a través de la historia hasta nuestros días. Se exponen los efectos mostrados en la actuación y la literatura de los jesuitas sobre santa Teresa, y procuran declararse las causas en que se basa tal simpatía plurisecular entre dos tipos de espiritualidad aparentemente diferentes. This article explores opinions held by Jesuits of St. Teresa over the years. It notes that there did exist, in the early years, a crisis in relations between Carmelites and Jesuits, and it explores reasons for this. However, it also traces how for the most part relations between these two spiritual traditions have been warm characterized by mutual admiration. In particular, it explores how both Jesuit literature and actions have demonstrated a deep sympathy with the spirituality of St. Teresa. It concludes with a reflection on the paradox of how two spiritualities, apparently so different, should have such a long-standing history of mutual respect. |
