His contact with Maurice Blondel's works led him to make the anthropological shift in theology and his reading of Karl Barth drew him to share the latter's position though with some reservations, ffis meeting with Eric Weil moved him to deepen the anthropological shift, while challenging political theologies and refusing to appeal to human sciences in theology. In short, these four authors invited Bouillard to move from a dogmatic perspective to an interpretative one, and to put aside a genealogical approach backed on the human sciences.
