Confrontés au risque d'assimilation avec la Prusse protestante et à l'aube du 4e centenaire de 1517, ils en appellent à une voie calvinienne et résistante de la Réforme. Au risque de perdre une partie du message de Luther, mais en assumant une rupture avec la tradition de tolérance d'une certaine Allemagne, ils croient en un monde nouveau où Genève serait tout. The BSHPF was profoundly affected by the growing shortage of authors and by the physical constraints of the war. The rhythm of publication changed, as did the number of pages produced; and, like the SHPF, it was obliged to rely on its internal resources, in the first instance those of its Secretary Nathanaël Weiss and its President Frank Puaux. Faced with the danger of identification with Protestant Prussia, and as the the quatercentenary of the Reformation in 1517 approached, they appealed to a Calvinian and resistance-based model of the Reformation. At the risk of losing part of Luther's message, but confirming a break with the tolerant tradition of a certain Germany, they affirmed their belief in a New World in which Geneva would be all in all. Die Zeitschrift der SHPF wurde während des Ersten Weltkriegs auf Grund des zunehmenden Mangels an Autoren und materieller Einschränkungen erheblich in Mitleidenschaft gezogen. Ihre Erscheinungsweise geriet ebenso unregelmäßig wie ihr seitenmäßiger Umfang, und man setzte – wie auch die SHPF selbst–auf die Mithilfe von «Hauskräften», in erster Linie auf diejenige des Sekretärs der Gesellschaft, Nathanaël Weiss, und ihres Präsidenten Frank Puaux. Da die SHPE am Vorabend des 400. Jubiläums der Reformation (1517-1917) befürchten mußte, mit dem protestantischen Preußen gleichgesetzt zu werden, berief sie sich auf den Widerstandsgeist der calvinistischen Reformation, selbst auf die Gefahr hin, dadurch einen Teil der lutherischen Lehre hinter sich zu lassen. Sie vollzog den Bruch mit der toleranten Tradition des deutschen Protestantismus und setzte auf eine neue Weltordnung, in deren Mittelpunkt Genf stehen sollte. | ||
