C'est cependant en France que Locke a mûri les idées qu'il partageait déjà avec Shaftesbury au sujet de la tolérance civile. The visit John Locke paid to France from 1676 to 1679 is well known by the extracts of his journals and correspondence edited by John Lough in 1953. As Locke's main contacts in France were with Huguenots, one of the main interests of his testimony is relating to the religion state of France ten years before the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes. No doubt this experience played an important part in his reflection about toleration. John Locke lebte in Frankreich von November 1676 bis Mai 1679. Auszüge aus seinen Tagebücher und seiner Korrespondenz wurden 1953 von John Lough herausgegeben. Locke stand in Beziehung mi vielen Huguenotten. Dies erlaubte ihm, 10 Jahre vor der Aufhebung des Edikts von Nantes ihre Situation zu den Machthabern aus des Nähe zu beobachten. Ohne Zweifel waren diese Erfahrungen auch sehr wichtig für seine späteren Arbeiten über die Toleranz. |
