| Summary: | En 1901, les protestants français sont attentifi aux débats suscités par l'examen du projet de loi relatif au contrat d'association. Leurs opinions et attitudes, consensuelles sur la nécessité d'une loi libérale, ne sont pas exemptes d'inquiétudes quant à la liberté religieuse et au statut conféré aux congrégations catholiques. En effet, même si les protestants ne sont pas directement visés par la loi, le débat se déroule dans un contexte socio-politique propice à l'exacerbation du conflit entre cléricalisme et anti-cléricalisme, ce qui ne peut laisser indifférente une minorité religieuse qui s'efforce d'affirmer son identité dans le cadre d'une fidélité républicaine refusant les excès de chaque camp. French Protestants attentively followed the debates concerning the Bill which became the 1901 Law on non-profit-making organizations. They agreed on the need for a liberal legislation, but expressed reservations on questions of religious freedom and of the status granted to Catholic religious communities. Indeed, although the law did not directly concern the Protestants, the debate took place in a sociopolitical context which could easily exacerbate the conflict between clericalism and anti-clericalism, a conflict which naturally worried a religious minority concerned to assert its identity within a republican loyalty, while distancing, itself from the extreme positions of either party. Die Debatte um den Gesetzentwurf des Vereinsrechts verfolgen die französischen Protestanten im Jahr 1901 mit großer Aufmerksamkeit. Der unter ihnen herrschende Konsens über die Notwendigkeit einer liberalen Gesetzgebung wird gebrochen von der Sorge um die Religionsfreiheit und den Status der katholischen Orden. Obwohl die Protestanten von diesem Gesetz nicht direkt betroffen sind, wird es in einem sozio-politischen Kontext diskutiert, der eine Zuspitzung des Konflikts zwischen Klerikalen und Antiklerikalen begünstigt, was auch die religiöse Minderheit der Protestanten betrifft, die ihre Identität innerhalb einer Treue zur französischen Republik bestimmt, ohne dabei den Extrempositionen des einen oder anderen Lagers zu folgen. |
